Keruse was the capital planet of the United Qua're Alliance, a government controlling the Qua're System, a trinary sytem between the Romulan and Klingon Empires.
Keruse was inhabited by 2 native sentient species, the land dwelling Erudians and the amphibious Kalteans. Immigration from the rest of Qua're has changed the demographics of the planet. The Erudians originally inhabited the various grotto cities on the surface all across the world. Kaltean expansionists displaced and slaughtered the Erudians during ancient times, causing their civilization to be confined to the northern hemisphere. This has been a source of hatred and rivalry between the two species for generations.
Keruse was mostly covered in ocean with a few large continents scattered across the surface. The planet has volcanic activity, with many geothermal vents and volcanos on the ocean floor. The ocean held many Kaltean cities, which drew their energy from geothermal activity. The surface was an inhospitable, with constant storms battering the surface. The Erudians survived by building their cities in areas shielded from constant storms. During ancient times the Erudian tribes struggled to protect livestock from giant crustacean animals.
On reference stardate -1/4511.25 The United Nations of Keruse was founded by the 120 warring states across the planet. The capital was moved to the desert metropolis of Rysol. On stardate -1/8212.25, the space program was founded and exploration of the system. By 0/81 hundreds of colonies had been built across the system. A primitive warp drive going no faster than Warp 2 allowed for quick travel between the planets of the Qua're system. On 1/62, tensions began to rise as a result of the Romulan War. During the war many planets and outposts were damaged with high civilian casualties. The outer systems were particularly hit hard, but recieved little immediate assistance. In 1/85 The United Federation of planets signed a treaty allowing for free passage of ships in return for warp 5 technology. In 1/8712, The Alliance was embroiled in an all out civil war made especially dangerous with the introduction of subspace based weaponry.
